Who is OFTEC?

About the association

Since it was founded in 1991, OFTEC has played a leading role in raising standards within the heating industries of the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Our trade association represents the interests of oil storage, appliance and supply equipment manufacturers and we develop course and assessment material for training providers. We also operate a UKAS accredited competent person registration scheme for almost 10,000 technicians involved in the installation and maintenance of oil, solid fuel, and renewable heating equipment as well as Part P electrical work.

OFTEC’s aim is to promote the highest professional standards across the industry and provide efficient service and support
for those using OFTEC registered technicians.

Only use an OFTEC registered technician

OFTEC has the responsibility of maintaining standards among the technicians and keeps a register of all suitably qualified, reputable oil engineers. These OFTEC registered technicians will be able to install and service oil-fired appliances.

When the technician arrives, ask to see their identity card. OFTEC Technicians are recognised and recommended by the General Consumer Council, the Health & Safety Executive and NI Direct.

For consumer benefit, if you think that a technician has not acted appropriately, you can ask us for a copy of our complaints process.
